Revenue 2.0: Emerging Models for Expert Firms

Join us for an all-new Revenue 2.0 conference: new content, new format, new city.  Last year we used the business model canvas to help you better understand your firm. We used exercises in constraints to rethink variations of your future firm. And we dabbled in intellectual property and alternative pricing strategies to get you thinking about adding more value to your clients’ businesses and capturing that value for your firm.

This year, we’re taking just one thing from last year and we’re going deep into that subject. We’re going to have you mine your firm for nuggets of this one thing even before you show up.  Then, when you’re on site with us and 60 of your peers for two days, we’ll work with you to refine and process those nuggets into complex, valuable assets. Finally, we’ll show you how to use those assets to shatter your ideas of just how much revenue and profit a firm like yours can generate. The nexus of our accomplishment together will be at the second iteration of Revenue 2.0, but you’ll also do some preparatory work beforehand. We’ll also give you a “development roadmap” to follow after the event—involving your staff—to impact your firm over the long term. Throughout it all, we’re going to hear from owners of firms who have already done this—they’ve mined, refined, and leveraged this one thing into greater impact for their clients and greater profit for their firms.

At this year’s Revenue 2.0, the one thing we’re focusing on is intellectual property. Intellectual capital is the sum of what people in your firm know and share with each other. Intellectual property is the deliberate transference of that capital into assets—strategy models, diagnostics, and other tools—that systematically improve the performance of the firm, create greater impact for clients, increase profit for the firm, and bring an ease and confidence to the sales cycle.

The typical creative firm is riddled with intellectual capital but almost never translates it into intellectual property. Over two days in Nashville, we’re going to help you do just that: convert intellectual capital to intellectual property. This year’s Revenue 2.0 is being hosted at the lovely Frist Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville, TN, over two days on October 15-16, 2015. It’s intentionally on a Thursday-Friday to encourage you to stay over, enjoy this city that everyone is talking about, and maybe get together with attendees informally after our event (we’ll help you facilitate this).  The format is a combination of hands-on workshop and inspiration from guest speakers—owners of firms who have built meaningful intellectual property and leveraged it to greater success.  Four weeks before the event you’re going to get an advance assignment that helps you begin mining your firm for intellectual capital so that you show up in Nashville ready to get to work.

Who should attend? This seminar will be beneficial to owners or managers of creative, marketing and other independent professional firms from sizes of 1 to 400. It is suitable for anyone who owns a business of selling ideas and advice and expertise. If you have any questions about this year’s Revenue 2.0, feel free to reach out to  your facilitators, David C. Baker of ReCourses ([email protected]) or Blair Enns of Win Without Pitching ([email protected]). Will you join us?
